LEAP are currently providing Nutrient Neutrality Technical Appraisals to a range of developers for development sites in South East England, including sites located with the Stodmarsh Catchment.
The Appraisals are used to help identify suitable solutions and opportunities to meet the Nutrient Neutrality requirements for new sites.
LEAP engineers recently provided a technical appraisal to a major house builder, where we reviewed the outline Nutrient Neutrality mitigation scheme put forward as part of a land purchase for a major mixed-use development.
The scheme included 1000 dwellings, a new school and a large area of wetlands to provide nutrient treatment.
LEAP were able to review the effectiveness and scale of the proposed mitigation scheme, highlighting the outline costs for construction and ongoing maintenance considerations. As part of the appraisal, we were able to provide potential alternative mitigation solutions for the client consider. For this we used our geotechnical and sustainability expertise to propose alternative solutions that aligned well with the development setting and therefore minimise land-take within the development, supporting suitable reuse of materials for the wetlands construction and promote Biodiversity Net Gain.
