LEAP’s work covers the various aspects of environmental geotechnology, and many of our projects cover a wide range of specialist disciplines. All LEAP senior engineers are expected to be familiar with all aspects of site investigation, and geotechnical and geo-environmental design, but in this case will specialise in Engineering Geology/Geotechnics, being ably supported by other in-house specialists and reporting directly to the Regional Manager. The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of their own subject and a proven ability to deliver at the highest level.
The remuneration package will include a competitive salary depending on qualifications and experience, pension, private health care and a car allowance for chartered professionals.

Duties:
- Liaise with and manage clients
- Scope, cost and carry out land quality / ground engineering projects
- Communicate effectively with clients, sub-contractors, and other staff
- Project manage Site Investigations and Geotechnical Designs
- Use specialist in-house and commercial software, to aid in the design of spread and piled foundations, slope stability, SuDS, roads, retaining walls etc
- Compile Desk Studies, Factual and Interpretative reports
- Mentor and train junior staff
Skills:
- Working and detailed knowledge of relevant National and EU codes and guidance (e.g. EC7 and relevant British Standards)
- Previous experience in a UK multidisciplinary environment where geotechnical issues are being considered alongside contamination issues
Qualifications:
- Bsc/BEng (Hons) in Geology, Civil Engineering, or similar
- Preferably an MSc/MEng in Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering or similar
- Chartered or approaching chartered status

Part-time Technical Admin Assistants – Dorking and Kent
LEAP are recruiting two Part-time Technical Admin assistants to work at its busy offices in Dorking and Kent. Hours/Days are available to suit although a minimum of 20 hours per week is envisaged.

LEAP, part of the RSK Group of companies, is a Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Consultancy with a head office in Dorking and successful regional offices in Burgess Hill and Kent. Leap provides services to the major house building companies as well as Local Authorities, Major plcs, infrastructure companies and other professionals. Those with an interest in the earth sciences, particularly geology and the environment will find the role more interesting, although qualifications in these subjects are not required.
You will assist the office manager with the implementation of our SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) Management System and upkeep of our approved sub contractors database, ensuring all insurances and documentation is kept up to date and on file. You will maintain technical equipment records, set up new projects, using our in house system Podio, order supplies for your office, along with providing assistance with invoicing, credit control, filing and general running of the office. Day to day you will report to the Regional Manager but the group has an Office Manager, who is available to provide guidance and oversee the role.
LEAP offers a generous remuneration package which includes basic salary, a pension and life and health insurance.
Skills/Personal attributes:
- Lively and hardworking individual who enjoys taking on a challenge.
- IT literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to use other IT programs – although training will be given on particular applications used by LEAP.
- Good verbal and written communication skills – the role involves liaising with accounts departments, the other regional offices and on occasion clients and regulators.
- Outgoing, self-motivated, reliable and responsible.
- An easy going team player with the ability to work on their own when required.
- Previous office experience is essential.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Five GCSEs including Maths and English.
